17th PortFIR Annual Meeting | September 24, 2025


The National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge, through its Department of Food and Nutrition, will hold, on September 24, 2025, the 17th PortFIR Annual Meeting, this year on the theme “Food Safety | Governance, science and new production models in the face of global challenges”.

The objectives of this initiative are: to present and discuss the governance and regulation of food safety in the face of current and emerging global challenges, promoting dialogue among legislators, regulators, researchers, and industry; to explore the role of organizations and institutions, as well as science and research in assessing and ensuring food safety; to present and analyze new models of food production, their sustainability and impact on the food system and public health; and to disseminate research work in the area of food, nutrition, and/or food safety.

The 17th PortFIR Annual Meeting, whose program will be disclosed in due course, is intended for members of the PortFIR networks, health professionals, laboratories, scientific and academic communities, food and distribution specialists, and all others interested in this topic. This event will take place in a hybrid format, in person at the Auditório do Museu de Eletricidade Casa da Luz, in Funchal, Madeira Island, and online through a platform to be defined and the INSA Youtube channel. Participation in the event is free, but subject to prior registration. For this purpose, please consult the respective criteria for preparation and submission.
