The Book of Abstracts of the 17th PortFIR Annual Meeting has been published. This year’s edition focused on the theme “Food Safety | Governance, science and new production models in the face of global challenges” and took place on 24 September 2025, in Funchal, Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM).
This annual initiative, organised by the Food and Nutrition Department of the National Health Institute Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA), in partnership with the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries (SRAP) and the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection (SRS) of Madeira, also benefited from the institutional support of the Association of Senior Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technicians (TSDTRAM) and the Madeira Electricity Company (EEM), as well as sponsorship from several regional and national organisations and private companies.
We invite all interested parties to consult the Book of Abstract and revisit the content of this edition, which also marked the first time the event was held outside the Lisbon region.
The 17th PortFIR Annual Meeting brought together 485 participants, both in person and online, and involved 25 speakers and moderators from 20 national and international entities, to discuss current and emerging challenges in food safety, new production models, and the central role of governance, science and regulation.
The event was highly successful, achieving a 100% satisfaction rate.
